Dialogue between a teacher and a student where the student tries to explain why they didn’t turn in their homework

Teacher: Rahul, you didn’t submit your homework again. This is the second time this week. What’s going on?

Student: I’m really sorry, ma’am. I desired to finish it, but something took place at home.

Teacher: What happened? You recognise that this assignment was crucial.

Student: Yes, I know. However last night my younger brother was sick. I had working parents, and so I had to take care of him.

Teacher: Oh… I see. Is he okay now?

Student: Yes, he’s feeling better today. However, I could not do my homework as the boy was crying the whole night.

Teacher: I understand, Rahul. However, you should let me know if such a thing happens. It is impossible to escape from doing the work.

Student: I know, ma’am. I’ll do it today and hand it over to you the other day. Am I able to have one more day?

Teacher: Alright. I will give you an extra day. I hope this is not a habit of yours though.

Student: Thank you, ma’am. I swear that it will never happen again.
